Dr. Watson, Founder, created her international nonprofit Watson Caring Science Institute in 2007 with the mission to restore the profound nature of caring-healing and support the current health care system to nurture and retain its most precious resource, competent, caring professional nurses. 

WCSI builds upon the lifetime background and global academic and clinical expertise of Dr. Watson and her renown 'Theory of Human Caring' in the field of Caring-Healing Science. WSCI is dedicated to help the health care system serve the current and future generation of health professionals in a global model of Caring Science. Deeper care for the public, reduced nurse turnover, and decreased costs to the system will result with WCSI Caring Science/Caritas education, training and leadership.  With an extended network of professional, clinical and academic colleagues, WCSI has launched Caring - Healing / Caritas  programs and services to transform healthcare, one nurse * one practitioner * one educator * one system at a time.

A widely published author of over 100 articles in the area of Caring Science and 13 books on the Science of Human Caring™, including the original, classic: Nursing. The Philosophy and Science of Caring (1979), Watson’s newly revised edition was released in May, 2008 by University Press of Colorado along with a groundbreaking meditation CD.

The WCSI Caritas Circle of Speakers includes Dr. Watson (limited) and her handpicked Caring Science Colleagues to offer keynotes, workshops, and classes to inform and educate. The WCSI Caritas Coach Educational Program (CCEP) was launched October, 2008 at its ICC Amelia Island gathering to foster personal development and professional advancement. Progressive teleseminars and post-graduate programs for nurses and health professionals are planned to include national pilot studies, train-the-trainer-both off and on-site delivery models, the WCSI Field Guide, manuals, workbooks, et al; the Caritas CareKit Product Line is evolving to affirm and support authentic integration of caring practices in daily life using meaningful symbolic items to reinforce professional Caritas practices. Clinical and academic WCSI Affiliates, including Caring Science / Caritas consultations for students, academic programs, and clinical systems will benefit from WCSI’s indepth repository for measurement instruments, clinical research results, and caring moment stories; Search Portal emergence will serve the Caring-Healing/Caritas practitioners / system/ at large with honor, voice, respect, and support.
