Careen Campbell, MSN-Ed., BSN, RN, RM, RNC-OB is a Senior Regional Nurse Director with Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii, where she provides strategic oversight for professional nursing practice, leadership development, and Magnet® designation efforts across 17 medical centers. In her role as Senior Nurse Director, Careen champions evidence-based practice, professional governance, workforce engagement, and the advancement of nursing excellence through innovative leadership strategies, with heart.

As a Caritas Coach since December 2025, Careen has served as a Faculty and Caritas Coach in the Kaiser Permanente Caritas Coach Education Program, supporting the integration of Watson’s Caring Science into leadership development programs to support caregiver and team well-being, as a leadership competency to transformation the practice environment into caring, healing, compassionate spaces. Careen is passionate about helping leaders and care teams cultivate authentic presence, meaningful human connections, and compassionate systems of care that improve both caregiver and patient experiences.

Careen’s work bridges the science of caring with leadership excellence, fostering environments where professional practice, healing relationships, and organizational performance can thrive. Careen’s interests include leveraging Caring Science, professional governance and High Reliability Organizing as critical leadership principles to transform healthcare delivery.
