She holds an Honors Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead University (1995) and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (2018), where her graduate work focused on mindfulness in nursing practice. Her nursing journey began in the United States, where she spent 17 years working in New Hampshire and Maine in a variety of cardiology roles across the care continuum—including interventional cardiology, heart failure management, and chronic disease self management. In 2012, Susanne returned to Canada and continued her work in cardiology and education in Kelowna, British Columbia.

From 2015 to 2023, Susanne taught in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Okanagan College. Her teaching focused on relational practice, mindfulness, and the integration of Caritas Processes into clinical education, emphasizing presence, compassion, and developing reflective practice.

Susanne completed the Caritas Coach Education Program® through the Watson Caring Science Institute in 2023 and served as an intern for Cohorts 32 and 35. She now serves as faculty, walking alongside Caritas Coaches in the program. She also brings experience in high-stakes simulation, interdisciplinary education, and teaching ECG interpretation. As a trained facilitator of the Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques in Mindfulness (SMART) program, she supports healthcare providers and students in cultivating mindful self-care and emotional resilience.

Currently, Susanne works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Stroke Network at Interior Health, contributing to the regional standardization of stroke care. She lives in Vernon, British Columbia, where she continues to learn, grow, and live in alignment with the values and Caritas Processes of the Watson Caring Science Institute.
