Veronica Timple is a distinguished nurse researcher with a decade of experience in the field. She has been with Kaiser Permanente (KP) for over 23 years and spent most of her bedside clinical nursing in the intensive care unit. She transitioned to different roles throughout the years, and she is now the Regional Nurse Scientist at KP Southern California and Hawaii region.
Veronica’s research portfolio covers a wide range of topics, from chronic disease management to nurses’ wellbeing. Her formative study, “Readmission Predictors of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes,” has been presented at national and international conferences and published in the Journal of Nursing Care Quality. Her latest diabetes-related study, “Predictors of Hypoglycemia in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes,” was also presented at national and international conferences and published in the American Journal of Nursing.
Currently, she is working on multiple studies related to nurses’ well-being and one of them is titled “Enhancing Nurse Leaders’ Professional Well-being in the Acute Care Setting: The Role of Caring Science and Caritas Processes.” The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Watson’s Theory of Human Caring and Caritas Processes in improving nurse leaders’ self-care practices and professional well-being.
Beyond her research endeavors, Veronica is a dedicated mentor and leader. She has guided numerous doctoral students and colleagues through their research, fostering the next generation of nurse researchers. She is also an esteemed member of several professional organizations, including the Sigma Theta Tau, Transcultural Society of Nursing, Philippine Nurses Association of America and San Diego, WIN, ANA, AONL, AACN, and serves on the ACNL Research and EBP committee.
