Theresa became a Caritas Coach in 2014 with certification in Heart Math Science and became a Watson Caring Science Institute-Kaiser Permanente faculty member in 2025.
Theresa graduated from California State University, East Bay with a BSN in nursing then completed a master’s degree in nursing and education in 2006. Theresa has been with Kaiser Permanente for twenty-five years, most of which has been spent as a nurse manager of critical care units. She is currently a Quality Nurse Consultant for the Northern California Region, holding a leadership position with the Virtual Quality Nursing Team and the Advance Alert Monitoring program.
Theresa views caring not only as the foundation of nursing practice, but also as a guiding principle for how she leads, supports, and inspires others. Jean Watson’s work emphasizes the importance of authentic presence, human connection, and holistic care; all of which are essential in fostering a healing and compassionate environment.
Watson’s work encourages her to lead and practice with empathy, to honor the dignity of every individual, and to create a culture that values caring relationships as much as clinical outcomes. Through this lens, nursing practice and leadership become meaningful acts of service, grounded in love, respect, and intentionality.
