Deerfield Beach, FL: September, 2025 – Boulder Community Health (BCH), a long standing Affiliate of Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI) has been honored with a Lotus Recognition™, a distinction that acknowledges the embodiment and sustainability of Dr. Jean Watson’s Human Caring Theory in practice. The award reflects BCH’s unwavering commitment to fostering compassion, dignity, and authentic connection throughout its culture of care.

The award reflects not just leadership vision but also the lived experience of BCH’s caregivers. Much of BCH’s progress is thanks to the Caring Science Council, which, with the support of the BCH Foundation, leadership, and the Health & Wellness and Spiritual Care Departments, has advanced Caritas education across the system.
Angela Reid, BSN, RN, BCH Medical-Surgical Unit, shared that Caring Science has given language to what she has always felt in her 30-year nursing career: “Dr. Watson’s concepts of human dignity, equanimity, and human-to-human connection go beyond the physical and speak directly to the heart of care. These principles guide my daily practice and continue to inspire how I serve patients with presence and compassion.”
BCH’s work ensures that staff at every level—clinical and non-clinical alike—can engage with practices that bring love, presence, and authenticity into every patient encounter.
