May 2026 — Deerfield Beach, FL: Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI), under the leadership of Dr. Jean Watson, is honored to announce that Henan Provincial People’s Hospital and Henan Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine have been designated Global Watson Caring Science Affiliates. This distinction recognizes the organization’s significant commitment to advancing Human Caring and healing practices within healthcare.
Henan Provincial People’s Hospital and Henan Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine becomes the second and third WCSI Affiliates in China, joining Wuhan Union Hospital in Hubei Province under the leadership of Dr. Yilan Liu. Together, these institutions have contributed to a growing body of collaborative research, including important work to establish humanistic standards in healthcare using Watson’s Caring Science framework.
Established in 1985, Henan Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive Grade A tertiary hospital specializing in traditional Chinese medicine, integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation. It is also a partner in China's multi-center research on humanistic care and has achieved exemplary results in the field of humanistic care in traditional Chinese medicine nursing. Dr. Wang Hongxia, the director of the nursing department at Henan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is delighted to join the WCSI's Global Affiliate program.
